According to New York Times reporter Nate Cohn, " if the Republicans continue to lead in Colorado and Alaska polls, they will have an advantage in the polls in the 51 seats necessary to secure the majority- even without Kansas." This would mean that the GOP would once again have control over the Senate. In this past, Barack Obama has found in very hard to get any kind of traction with the republican-dominated senate and it makes things very difficult to get down since most time is spent shooting down the others ideas/bills. Election time for congress and senate races are so important because it determines who is going to be in control of Congress and that determines how the next 6 years will go,

I think this article makes it clear of how easily a party can get ahead. Last week the Democrats were in the lead and now some democratic seats in The Senate may be filled by Republicans because the Democrats aren't leading in polls.
ReplyDeleteThis election is definitely very important, not only to the people but also to Barack Obama. Obama has faced problems trying to get many of his proposed plans across the Senate but he ultimately failed due to the large republican majority. Obama will now, in order to insure his future, endorse democratic candidates. This is a unpredictable election in which one day Democrats can feel confident and the other days Republicans can.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting to see a democratic president elected and then see the republican party take control of the senate. It was if the public regretted their decision to elect a democratic president. But he was reelected again. I think this shows how the majority of people in the country feel one way and how congress does not reflect those views.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very serious issue because if Obama want to get his policies passed in the senate he would require a democratic majority. So if the democrats do not have a bounce back in the votes then there would be some serious repercussions for the Obama administration in the future. Obama may not be able to get any of his laws passed and this will reflect badly upon him, so if the democrats are not able to win majority in the senate then Obama will have his work cut out for him because he would have to convince a republican senate being a democrat.
