Cuomo seems to be taking the backseat on his campaign since he is using no traditional campaign methods. Cuomo spent last week promoting his new book and visiting The Late Show with David Letterman. Keep in mind, Cuomo is still doing his day-to-day job and held a press briefing on the states precautionary measures against the spread of Ebola. Cuomo fails to impress when it comes to international travel and departed on a 24-hour stay to Puerto Rico, only two weeks after visiting Afghanistan.
On the other hand, Astorino is swarming the state from corner to corner, trying his best to catch as many voters as he can. Astorino is very active in his campaign, but the polls are not suggesting that this a very effective method. Even calling Cuomo coward, Astorino feels that the governor wants nothing to do with the average person. Does that really make sense? I rather have a governor do is job, versus spewing nonsense just to get elected.

I completely agree. Cuomo is not campaigning as strongly as Astorino because Cuomo has a job to do and he would rather continue being good at the job he has now and making i known that he is dedicated to it just as he would be if he was elected.
ReplyDeleteAstorino may be swarming the state getting to as many voters as possible, but I feel as though he focuses too much on speaking badly about Cuomo to get his message out. If he focused less on calling Cuomo a coward and more about his own achievements, I think voters would be more likely to listen but for now Cuomo is doing his job rather than focusing on his re-election.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It is more important for Cuomo to do his job instead of campaign, because it shows voters what he can and will do, rather than what he says he will do. Doing his job (and doing it well) would be more effective than any kind of campaigning, but especially more than the negative campaigning that Astorino is engaging in.
