Bill de Blasio is trying to ensure that as many democrats win as possible. He is holding a fundraiser for state comptroller Thomas DiNapoli Tuesday and is supporting other democratic candidates, including Governor Andrew Cuomo, statewide. New York is a very liberal state so he shouldn't have much of a problem getting democratic candidates elected. The reasons for his support are clear. You always want your side in office. It makes getting policies you favor passed. Even though Bill de Blasio is a mayor, and therefore has little affinity with the state as a whole, the state still can affect the city. Therefore it is good to have fellow democrats in the state senate and as governor.

I think it is a great idea for the mayor of NYC to support those who have more authority than himself. This way our government can work together and be more productive.
ReplyDeleteI agree and I think that de Blasio is making his job easier by supporting the democrats and trying to make them win because if they do, it will be easier for him to run NYC.
