Mitt Romney has just officially backed Astorino in his race for governor. Romney wrote a fundraising appeal and bashed Cuomo by calling him a "typical corrupt politician." It will be interesting to see if any voters are swayed by Romney's support. Will it help or hurt the campaign? Astorino was elected into office by a mainly democratic demographic so will they be turned off by Romney's support? Or will wary Republicans be more enthusiastic with their support?

Mitt Romney's blast against Cuomo will definitely hurt Cuomo's campaign but I think that he will be able to recuperate if he responds to it correctly and continues to campaign because he is already ahead in the polls.
ReplyDeleteIn such a Democratic state like New York, I really doubt Romney's letter will hurt Cuomo too much. It might even hurt Astorino's campaign, since Astorino is trying to appeal to both Democrats and Republicans.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Asmaaul. New York is a really Democratic state. A lot of people view Romney as an ultra-conservative figure. That's the opposite of the support that Astorino should want to get in order to appeal to the people here.
