Cuomo has international travel plans to promote trade

Cuomo is planning to visit many different countries if he is re-elected by the people of New York. The reason Cuomo plans on doing this is to promote trade between these countries and New York. Cuomo claims that he did not do this in his first term because he was busy with state plans. This move by Cuomo may get him re-elected because most governors will not focus on issues like this but Cuomo promises New York that he will do this if he gets re-elected. However, this should not be apart of a governors agenda. He should still focus on state plans instead of foreign plans. The infrastructure of New York should be strong before he goes to make foreign trade deals with other countries.

  1. Governor Cuomo should understand that he is running to be re-elected as the Governor of New York state, not America. Thus, he should have no reason to poke his nose around in foreign affairs, regardless of what the topic is. Governor Cuomo's main focus should be on helping New York because that is the job that he will be hired for. I respect Cuomo on this novel idea, but this is a stupid idea since foreign affairs is not part of the job description of a New York state Governor.

  2. I agree with Romil. Governor Cuomo should adress state issues such as the stagnant upstate economy and corruption within his own administration before he goes to Italy because "he wants to go there." There have been rumors floating around that Cuomo is planning to run for president in 2016, but he needs to prove that he is capable of taking care of his own state before he goes on a jet-setting global tour. All of this international travel seems less like a genuine attempt to boost New York trade but more like an attempt to cultivate potential international allies. Perhaps we should remind Governor Cuomo what year it is and what position he's currently running for.
