Sexual Assault Activists Meet Kathy Hochul and Christine Quinn

Sexual assault is a widespread problem on college campuses, and most administrations have done less than nothing about it. The problem has become more prominent after Columbia student Emma Sulkowicz's mattress protest, which was on the cover of New York magazine, and attracted the attention of politicians. This is yet another example of Cuomos' attempt to push his Equal Rights Agenda through his running mate. Kathy Hochul has attempted to brand herself as a woman's rights activist by campaigning with the Women's Equality Party, and this is just another example of this.

  1. Cuomo and Hochul's attempts to bring more attention to campus sexual assault and women's rights is a tremendous help to the publicity of their respective campaigns. Their overwhelming support for these pressing issues can appeal to both the female and youth votes.

  2. Cuomo and Houchul's actions will bring support from young college students who tend not to vote as much. If they get their votes, they have so many more chances of winning. They both will also get a majority of the female vote too.

  3. This is a very good move for both Cuomo and Hochul, not only for their campaign but for the equal rights movement, as well. It has been far too long that students – especially male students – have gotten away with sexual assault with little to no repercussions. Four for you, Cuomo-Hochul!

  4. Although this is a great move for equal rights, I'm not really sure if Cuomo will receive overwhelming votes from college students. As we've discussed in class the votes of the youth are overwhelmingly low, and this new agenda may not bring as many votes as Cuomo hopes. However, I do hope that this push for equal rights does continue.
