This article is promoting Eric Schneiderman and Thomas DiNapoli. It states how greatly they have both been running New York and how they they should be reelected. It states that Eric Schneiderman has secured 60 billion dollars to help homeowners. It talks of his aid to the environment as well as his efforts to advance public safety. It also speaks of Cahill's, his opponents, faults. Such as the fact that he has no plan for if he wins or that he opposes gun safety. It also speaks of DiNapoli's accomplishments. This is great publicity for the two candidates before the election, especially since the New York Times is a very reputable newspaper.

In adition to being a highly respected paper, the Times also boosts one of the most loyal followings around the world. I know many people that choose who they vote for solely based on who is endorsed by the Times. While this is a silly way of choosing your future political leaders, it demonstrates the power the New York Times brand has. I'm not sure how much help this endorsement is since both Eric Schneiderman and Tom DiNapoli are beating their opponents very badly.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked that the New York Times is so supportive of the Democratic candidates, since both Schneiderman and DiNapoli are Democrats. I always thought the New York Times was a very "fair" newspaper, meaning that they don't tend to be biased towards other groups. Maybe I'm wrong... perhaps since this is the opinion pages, the writers can say anything they want. Other than that, I agree that this will be great publicity. I think any little endorsement is beneficial, because you never know if the other candidates has something up their sleeves that can reverse the tide.
ReplyDeleteNew York Times definitely has an impact on the people of New York. This newspaper is well respected and bought by many people due to their excellent writers and headlines. Recently they have also endorsed Governor Andrew Cuomo and urge the people to vote for him for re-election. Eric Schniederman has also been endorsed by them and by seeing polls, we can see that both are beating their opponents.
