With the announcement of Governor Cuomo's potential visit to Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, opponent Rob Astorino criticizes the move as a "panic and pander tour". Astorino, fluent in Spanish criticizes Cuomo for his lack of concern with the Latino community. Cuomo has recently turned down offers for debates on Hispanic networks such as Univision and New York 1 Noticias. Astorino thinks thast Cuomo is so out of touch with the Hispanic community and if he wants to connect with them he should visit Latin areas in New York rather than traveling.
This article truly demonstrates Astorino's tactic throughout the campaign. He constantly puts Cuomo's camapign down and speaks poorly of the work he's done. Although Astorino says Cuomo is out of touch with the community he provides very few examples and he doesnt address what he would do in this position. I want to know more of Astorino's policies, not just that they shook their head at what Cuomo is doing. Then need to be proactive, not reactive
I agree that Rob Astorino is reacting to Cuomo's campaign more than he is acting on his own behalf. Pointing out apparent faults in your opponent is not going to make people vote for you, it will will just stop them from voting for your opponent.
ReplyDeleteAstorino should focus more on his campaign than trying to find faults in Cuomo's campaign. If Cuomo wants to visit Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic as a "pain and pander tour," let him do what he wants.
ReplyDeleteEven though Astorino is digging for faults to use against Cuomo, I think he brings up an interesting point. Why is Cuomo suddenly so interested in the latin community when he has never shown such interest before? Is it merely to get votes?
