Mitt Romney blasts Cuomo in harsh fundraising letter

http://nypost.com/2014/10/13/mitt-romney-blasts-cuomo-in-harsh-fundraising-letter/

This article discusses the rising fervor of Cuomo's opposition, particularly Mitt Romney. Romney recently wrote a letter that lambasts Cuomo for the ineffective use of millions of taxpayer dollars for failed programs. His letter also emphasizes some of the worst features of the New York economic climate, such as the exorbitantly high taxes. Romney's timing could not be better for his supported gubernatorial candidate, Rob Astorino. Romney praises Astorino's leadership in Westchester, clearly indicating where his support lies. Since Astorino's campaign doesn't possess nearly the amount of resources Cuomo's does, alliances may be even more important. The article also mentions a surprising fact of the election - Cuomo's less-than-expected lead over Astorino. Although Cuomo spent a great deal of money in the hopes of a landslide victory, recent polls show that it is more realistic for him to expect a close election.

  1. I think Mitt Romney's statement was released at a perfect time because right now voters are still unsure of who to vote for. Instead of acting like he had the election in the bag, maybe Cuomo should have been campaigning more.

  2. On the other hand though, some of Astorino's policies might be a little extreme for the more liberal New Yorkers. I see how this could be good for for Astorino, he could use this to talk to more people, raise more awareness, but I'm not sure it is something that will work in the long run.

  3. Looks like this will end up being a tight race. I am not surprised at all that Cuomo is starting to push his campaign a lot further now.
