Cuomo introduces new policy to combat sex violence at SUNY

Cuomo's new policy in colleges and university can attract the young voting population to vote for him. Cuomo has put a sex-assault prevention policy in many SUNYs. In order for another person to engage in sexual activities with another person, consent must be clear and voluntary. However, this consent must be asked for any form. This policy is being pushed into private universities as well because many women are victim of sexual assault. However, this policy is obviously flawed because no person asks permission to sexually assault someone. Sexual assault is forcing to have sex and the policy clearly will not help anybody. However, this policy can be considered just a tactic and strategy in the upcoming election to help Cuomo attract the youth majority in SUNYs that will be voting for their governor. This policy will not only "help" victims but will help Cuomo as well.

  1. I agree that this policy may not prevent sexual assualt, but atleast it puts out there those who do sexually assusalt someone will be punished. Just a few months ago a Columbia student came out with her story that when she went to her school for help after another student raped her, they did not expell him. As a student going to college next year it is more reasurring to think that my college will stand up for the victims instead of trying to cover their backs.
